Is it wrong to love buttons?

I’m not talking Cinderella here I’m talking real buttons.

After bitching with fellow posters on MSE (money saving expert) about how rubbish and expensive my local charity shops are the patron saint of charity shops must have heard my rantings and blessed me yesterday. Look what I got ;

All of these were sorted into similar colours in loads of little sandwich bags tied together with wool.

It is clear someone slightly unhinged like me collected these for years and treasured them. Most of them are full sets of 5 or 6 of the same type, many of them are so well made and it is clear that they are quite old. I kept finding bits of threads amongst them where someone had snipped them off old clothes and saw fit to keep them.

These are a few of my favourites:

I love these badly cracked little black buttons:

These are my very favourites, look how much work went into these:

And now to the price … I paid £1.00 for all of these, I did feel a little guilty and added my change to the charity box to help ease my guilt!

I came in from work last night after what seemed like a very long week and I was stressed to the eyeballs, and after 20 minutes sat sorting and adoring my buttons I felt better, isn’t that mad?

Am I the only button freak out there?

Back Soon ♥

I have to agree with you, buttons make me go weak at the knees. I regularly look through my button collection just to make myself smile :). What a bargain price too! I never seem to find any at my local CS's xx

I too love buttons and I recognise some of those that you have. Both my mum and nan were very handy, My mum crocheted (spl) lots of my clothes and my nan sewed lots. I definitely had some of the buttons on some clothes. I especially remember your favourite buttons on one of my jackets and the purple ones on my most favourite ever crocheted cardigan. Thanks for reminding me of them. See buttons are full of surprises.

One of my favourite childhood games was playing with Mum's button collection. I still love them - in fact I bought quite a few today. Nothing as bargainous as your haul though!

Oh Lordy, there are so many there which are so familiar to me from my ma's button tins (sorted into black, white and multi). I can even smell them!

Thank you for visiting my blog- I have put your name in the lucky-dip for the necklace. Ax

Course you're not the only button freak! I think you should start a facebook group for button addicts (I'd join - I did a very similar post to this a few weeks back.... and am still guilty of being a closet button lover). I love the glassy purple ones - and so bargainous!! Lucy xox
