I was really sorry to hear that Picnik was closing it's doors later this month. It's a site I have used for a few years and was even a paid up member for a while.
There are more complex and technical sites and downloads out there that can do better, but for simplicity and a good result I always liked this.
I was asking around for a similar type of site and Justine of Sew Justine Sew recommended PicMonkey.
It's great, I would go as far as to say that I prefer it to Picnik it seems much faster and smoother to use, apparently it is created by the same people involved in Picnik!
If you are looking for an alternative to Picnik give it a whirl!

Aw, I was so sorry to see picnik go aswell.
Luckily, I bought myself photoshop elements a few months ago, and banned myself from using picnik as an easy alternative. It seemed so much easier, and faster to use than photoshop!

I noticed today that many of the features of Picnik now seem to be in Picasa 3.9. Happy days!
Love picmonkey too... when I'm being lazy and not in the mmod for Photoshop elements :) I prefer it to Picnik, a little more streamlined (?) x

Yay! I've been looking for a picnik alternative. Will check out PicMonkey. I already have a software from Canon to edit my photos. But it's so primitive and not pretty at all. I cannot see myself using Picasa even if it has incorporated Picnik features.
