Machine Cross Stitch Dilemma...

Well I finished my Sewing Machine Cross stitch.

It is in dire need of a good pressing but it's done.  I only hesitate in pressing it as I might unpick bits of it yet.
Rather than go for all black I added gold highlights to three little places, as suggested by the clever Ruby thinking it would give it the vintage singer machine feel, but now I'm not so sure. Maybe it's the shade of gold I have chosen?
What do you think, unpick those bits and do it all black or leave it alone?
It's rather dinky overall, here it is draped over a standard 16" cushion.

Once you have helped me decide I will get it off to be framed... then the next dilemma - glass or no glass, oh bother!

Thanks ladies x

I must say personally I quite like the gold bits, it breaks it up a little but I'd say go with your heart, if you are unhappy with something the chances are you will always be unhappy with it and it would be such a shame not to be in love with this gorgeous print x x x x

I think the opposite - all black would be better. Yes to glass but non-reflective if you can get it. If not still glass as the dust would ruin it.

I love it as it is but then I like a splash of colour. Where did you get the pattern, it is amazing?!

I am going to go with leave it alone, as anyone with an old Singer machine will tell you they are black with some gold so i think it makes it more realistic,I just love it,also the glass would protect it not just from dust but from insects etc after all that hard work,at the end of the day if you are happy just leave it and be very proud as it is delightful.

Is the gold too yellow? Is that's what is bugging you? I think either all black or a duller, more bronzey shade of gold maybe? Beautiful design though, it will look amazing once framed. XX

If you aren't happy then you should change it but I think it looks great.

I love it as I love typography & lettering. I also like the addition of the gold bits because they lead the eye around the picture. OOh, we are all saying different things, you will have to decide what you are going to be happy with. x

It's absolutely beautiful as it is but I agree with those who say that if you're unhappy with it now and don't change it you'll always regret it. And definitely non-reflective glass!

veeerrrrry nice - I love it as it is, although personally, I think all black for a singer would be in keeping, and more 'uniform' for this design. Beautiful.

This looks gorgeous and I can't wait to see it framed with glass but I think I would unpick the gold and do those bits again in the black x

I am a collector of Singer sewing machines and Singer sewing items. In all honesty it is hard for me to pass them by at auctions and yard sales. I love vintage sewing machines!
All Singer printed items are in green and red. The machines are usually black with a deep gold in the design.
I love the machine you stitched, but the color just does not jive for me. I am sure it is all about personal preferences! For myself only, I would use red or just all black. No matter what you decide, it is a fantastic stitch and thanks for sharing it with us. It is a pleasure to see.

I think red would look good instead of the gold. Hugs Mrs A. (aka Miss April).
