My Rock and Roll Friday Night

This is my end of week treat. After a long working week Friday night is catch up time. I had a pile of stuff on my doormat when I got home today; my knitting magazine arrived, CK mag and the new book club brochure along with a tourist guide to the Peak District.

We fancy a change this year and are heading to North East Derbyshire in August for a week in a lovely cottage. Have you been here or do you live near here ~ any recommendations of places to visit and things to do, my only sure plans are that I want to visit Chatsworth House any other recommendations gratefully received as I have never been to this area before.
A big cuppa and a biscuit and I made my way through my mags, first Country Homes, I ADORE this cushion, my Dad used to sing this song to me when I was a kid, and how is that for a beanbag?

These wonderful ladies get together in each others homes to craft, oh I long for a home like this:

Now my knitting mag is here, I kind of skimmed this as I am scared to get attached to any new knitting pattern, I have so many things I want to get done before I start anything new. I do love the knitted coat hanger and baby blanket though.

I do like the book club, I fancy this ~ I was given one of these halogen cookers and it is covered in dust on top of the fridge, I've never even plugged it in, it has the instructions inside still. The thing is I don't know what to do with it, I can't quite believe it can cook a chicken ~ have you used one, is it any good?

Last but not least, feast your eyes on this little beauty, there were so many lovely things in the Cath Kidston mag but I loved this most of all:

So there is my night ~ how Rock & Roll am i?

~ ♥ Back Soon ♥ ~

I think it was a halogen oven my ex used to have, and it was excellent, I cooked all our food in it, so much better than a big oven plus you could see when the food was done without letting all the heat out :)

Much like my Friday night Kandi except I might have a bit of WoW thrown in for added excitement.
Have a lovely weekend.

Definitely go to Bakewell, it's LOVELY! Visit Wye Needlecraft when you're there, it's a fab shop. And Haddon Hall is one of my absolute favourite houses and is very close by, so you could easily spend a day doing the two.

I did indeed hear the Wittertainment reviews of 127 Hours but I know I'm far too much of a wimp to sit through it. The very thought of the cutting scene makes me go all squicky and I'd spend most of the film with my hands over my face!

I'd love to have been able to read the new CK book but mine's not arrived yet.

Instead I did some sewing, washing up and then watched TV

I was going to suggest Bakewell too. Matlock and Matlock Bath and Ashbourne. Critch, near Matlock has a great tram museum and the Red Lion pub they have there was the one my auntie had her wedding reception in, but in those days it was in Stoke!

Ooh, try Calke Abbey - it's a stately home that fell into disrepair and the NT kept it like that - soooo interesting and a bit of a contrast to Chatsworth I'd imagine. Also Monkey Forest is really good :)

I second Bakewell (damn, missed the Needlework shop) and would like to add Matlock (not sure if I mean Matlock or Matlock Bath...) and Cromford. Cromford is where Sir Richard Arkwright had his mill and is now home to the best bookshop in the world. Huge, on several floors, lots of little rooms, a mixture of new and second hand (sorry, I snagged all the second hand craft books!)and a cafe. Can't beat it. What's this CK mag??? I've never seen it?!?

Just seen this post (sorry not on the ball just lately) You will love it here in Derbyshire (I live 8 miles from Matlock bath, it's like a inland seaside town lol). There are some lovely little shops :)and a great fabric shop :)
Chatsworth is well worth a visit loads to do and see there (Ive been a few times with my son's school).
What ever you get up to here in August you will love it :)
