There are times through the week when I have come in from work shattered and it is just too much effort to get the sewing machine out. These times I usually sit and prepare stuff, cut fabrics ready for sewing but some nights even that is too much effort ~ well it means I need to vacuum with all the threads, sewing is a messy hobby!
So when I want to sew but don’t have the energy or inclination I usually read about it instead. This is generally on blogs, swooning over other peoples makes and pawing through tutorials and websites for ideas and inspiration, but sometimes only a book will do.
This book is one I have been contemplating buying for some time and this week I found it in my local library, Home Sweet Sewn by Alice Butcher and Ginny Farquhar (it’s about £8 on Amazon at the minute).
There are some nice things in there and the book itself is well put together and the paper is really nice. I have taken some photos of some of the things in there that I really did like, and at the back of the book there are templates for all of the featured makes.

I am not sure if I am ready to part with hard earned cash for this though, I will keep it on my wish list for now.
Well better stop thinking and reading about it and start doing it…

I had seen this on amazon but like you wasn't sure about parting with my hard earned, does look good though doesn't it.Maybe next month.

Thanks for sharing the book Kandi, having a break from sewing is good, it allows you to enjoy it all the more when you get back to it with fresh eyes.
I have this book too! I love the tea cosy on the front! It has some great ideas in it!

The apron looks so gorgeous. I often wonder why in projects books, they make aprons so beautiful when they gonna get dirty!

Wow have just found your blog and I love your makes, so much so that I have become a follower. Love this little book, may have to add it to my wish list. I am just getting back into sewing, and am working on a cushion using some wonderful Russian Doll Fabric, watch this space, lol!

You sound a lot like me, Kandi. If I'm not sewing, the next best thing is prepping (cutting fabric on the lounge floor), reading other blogs, or reading sewing books if I'm absolutely pooped. 'Home Seet Sewn' looks just lovely - but I'm still saving for Fancy Moon's wonderful fabrics! L x
