Altering My Boot Sale Finds

I picked up some nice treasures at the boot sale in early May and they have sat unloved in the corner of the room for about a month until I couldn’t stand to look at them any more.

I got cracking sanding and painting and came up with something a little more pleasing to the eye. This is how they started life:

This mirror (boot sale £2.50) was painted with many coats of spray paint, to get in the little crevices, I used the same paint on the little photo frames (from the Wilko sale 75p each) ~can you see where I spray painted my lawn? A couple more cuts and it will be gone hopefully.

Mirror and pics insitu.

Aren't these vintage cards the sweetest? They are from Vintage Amethyst, an online boutique full of vintage and shabby loveliness, have a little look over there. I added a bit of antique lace and ribbon to the cards and mounted them on some wallpaper from my chimney breast in the same room.

The clock was a present from years ago and the letter rack was another boot sale find (£1.50).

Now back to the sewing…

*Clap clap* Gorgeous - I love the little Keep Calm card peeping out the letter rack. Your house looks so coordinated and stylish!

Have you ever visited the design sponge blog? Google it if not - they have a before and after slot where they showcase pieces that people have painted and made gorgeous, just like yours! Take a look and you could submit some? Don't know how you find the time though :o) L xox

It's amazing what a lick of paint can do to perk up second hand finds. I just wish I could persuade my husband to agree and paint the coffee table!
