Hair Slides

I found myself with a growing bag of hairslides that I recently picked up in the sale, and a large bag of yo-yos and little felty flowers. The idea was to make them into pairs of hairslides.

In order to keep them together I punched a little heart shaped hole in some lovely vintage looking nursery rhyme snap playing cards.
This resulted in a pile of little hearts that are quite sweet, I will find a use for these some time.
Some of the larger flowers were too big for hair slides so I added a safety pin to the back and made brooches, to be worn or added to bags.
Hairslides:

Goodness knows what I will do with all of these, but once I started I got a bit carried away!

Remember Yo-Yo’s?

Remember me getting carried away a couple of weeks ago and making a mountain of yo-yo’s? Well I have used a couple of them on a phone cover and I did sew a few together to make a brooch, and then I went a bit mad and attached lots of them together and attached a length of chain to each end and ended up with a Yo-Yo Necklace.

To be honest it’s not something I could wear, apart from anything it is not suitable for women with big boobs it kind of just sits there like a bib (I pulled it up as high as I could and stretched my neck up like a goose to take the photograph below)!

I think they are quite sweet and would look good against a plain high neck tee shirt, just not if it is filled out with big boobs.

Perhaps this will be unpicked and stitched to the front of a bag of some sort in the near future, watch this space.

Scraps & Yo Yo Makes

Having recently acquired my new rotary cutter I was itching to try it out. Fortunately I am a bit of a hoarder and I keep lots of off cuts; so delving through my 'rubbish' bag I came up with loads of little scraps that I cut into circles to make Yo-Yos.

I don't know how I managed without a rotary cutter before now ~ it's fab! I was able to cut through 4 layers in one go saving loads of time, and cutting in circles with the cutter is not easy (I should have tried it out on squares I guess, I never go for the easy option!) but it worked.

I really enjoyed pottering with these, they were quick and easy to do, and I got to use some of my lovely buttons. So instead of a bag of scraps I now have a bag of Yo-Yos.

I'm not entirely sure how I will use them at the moment, perhaps a necklace or a couple of brooches, or just to add to makeup bags etc. but whatever they turn into I will be sure to let you see.
