Magazine Winner, and an Amendment...

Thanks for the welcome back and for all the entries for the magazine!

I popped you all on a list and copped out with the random number generator and the winner is:

Congratulations, if you could email me your address (kandipandi{at}tiscali{dot}co{dot}uk) I'll post out this week with a few little bits added in.

I have been spending even more time at the beach this weekend, I'm just scared summer will be gone in a flash and as my youngest boys are now 12 there will not be many more summers that they will want to spend on the beach; we need to make the most of it!

I did manage a bit of crochet on the beach, lots of people come to talk to me when I'm knitting/sewing/making outdoors it's always a good conversation starter.

Been in the kitchen this weekend too making more melts and candles, these are quite popular in my little shop, my home smells of lemon meringue pie and bubblegum, yum!

Ooh before I forget, I made a little mistake in my little hexie tutorial and one of the measurements is wrong!  Poor Judith follwing my instructions to the letter got confuddled and thought it was her brain not getting it when infact it was my dodgy measurement. The change is as follows:

Next make a cushion back. You will need;

· Two large rectangles of cotton 18” x 17”

Should read

· Two large rectangles of cotton 9” x 17”

Sincere apologies for any confusion.

Right, must finish up my magic ball swaps, almost there.  I posted my Fabric Swap to Australia today, hope it gets there soon Kerri!

Are you enjoying this Easter Break?  I did the 'buy 3 get 11 days off work lark', and I'm so glad I did.
Trouble is there is so many things I want to do when I'm off that I will be going back to work for a rest.  A few of the things I'm planning craft wise are:
Open my Folksy Shop
Tidy and plant stuff in my garden
Make Two Roman blinds for my kitchen
Revamp my Charity Shop Coffee Table
Make some more cushions

These are besides the usual family things and general life, I thought if I write them down here I will be encouraged to crack on.

Yesterday I made a start on the table;

and the plants;

the rest will happen I'm sure :)

Happy Easter lovely people hope you have a relaxing time.

Check out my chick, courtesy of my lovely LaaLaa.

A little catch up post...

Well this week I have been dabbling in all sorts.  I have been making a few bits for my Easter Swap organised by the lovely Hookin' with LaaLaa so I can't really show them until my partner Gill The Vintage Gardener has received them.
What I can show you though is these cards.
I dabbled in cardmaking many moons ago but pretty much gave it up as I am rubbish at it.  However recently I got some free Cupcake stamps with the Simply Homemade Magazine and they were just to sweet not to use.

I had never used these rubber sheet stamps before; back in my day it was all red rubber on chunks of wood.  I took advice from an expert card maker (thanks Judith) and got cracking.

They are quite simple but I really enjoyed getting my stuff out again messing with promarkers and ink ~ I had it all over!
I'm quite pleased with how they turned out.

Last week I won a giveaway hosted by the lovely Vintage Vicki, I was delighted and really pleased with what arrived, everything was right up my street!

There was a definite Red White and Blue theme, can't imagine why :)

Im a sucker for a brooch.

I will try my best not to kill these!

I love it all thanks again Vicki x

p.s.don't forget there is still time to enter my Tea Cup Candle Giveaway.

Little Gifts and a Big Gift

I have been rather lucky these last few weeks. My charity shopping has picked up and I have had two blog wins!

These are the delights I won this last week they both arrived the same day for double the pleasure, first off is this delightful little pin cushion from the very talented Rachael of Clever Cheshire Cats; in all my favourite colours:

Isn't it divine ~ thank you Rachael x

And then this beautiful bracelet; hand made by the rather clever Hazel from Sewn Up, Stuck Down, the little frames have Cath Kidston paper inside:

I love it ~ thank you Hazel x

Now remember my coffee table buy from the charity shop on Monday; this is it:

Not terribly inspiring and I couldn't take a decent photo as it is HUGE and I couldn't find anywhere to put it. It's rather orange and a bit skanky at the minute but given some time it will be fit for the lounge ~ honest.
I was looking for some wool jumpers yesterday in my lunchtime to make some cushion backs when I found these two little tea sets, I had candles in mind for them but it seems a shame to use them, I really like these two:
Well onto the big gift, 6ft to be precise! My darling Son Adam is 16 today. I can't quite believe it, it seems I cradled his tiny 5lb 2oz body in my arms for the first time yesterday; I blinked, and he is now 16! He is the most wonderful teenager I have ever known; everything a parent could wish for, loving, thoughful, kind, handsome, funny and smart.

Happy Birthday Baby.

We bought him this cookie in lieu of a cake...

... and on reading it he said 'I didn't realise you had 15 other Adams' ~ told you he was smart!

A Winner and a Little Purple Knitted Purse

Thanks so much for all your entries and kind words.
As per my usual cop out I added you all to a long list, some of you twice and due to time constraints I gave you all a number and copped out again and did a random number generator (sorry, it’s so impersonal, but practical).
Winning Number 11 - CRAFTING UK MUM - I have sent you an email ~ Congratulations!
♥ Sorry you could not all win ♥

I thought I would show you the knitted purse I made a short while ago. The knitting magazine I buy came with a free purse clasp and a pattern to knit a purse so I gave it a go.

To be honest I was a bit daunted as there were stitches in there that I had never used before ( I followed the pattern for the green one), but I plodded on and after what seemed like an eternity it was finished.

A day or so after I finished this I received a parcel from lovely Alex, with this ditsy floral fabric which I though would be just perfect to line it with.

I got cracking hand sewing the purse together and I hand sewed the lining and attached it by hand to the woollen purse, then the fun started. This was the biggest pain in the ar*e to sew into the frame, I used about 8 different types of needles to try and find the right one for the job and when I did find it, after about half a side it snapped! I did persevere and got there in the end but it took me an age to sew this in and it was so difficult that my fingers were really sore for a while afterwards. Needless to say this will be my last one!

I had a little rummage for buttons to add to the front, and couldn’t find anything I was overjoyed with so I covered some small buttons in the lining fabric and added them instead. I am not 100% happy with them, and can see me changing them when I find what I want, but for now here is the purse, that made me sweat, swear and sore… never again!

Givaway Win and a Slimming Pudding

Did I mention that I won a lovely giveaway recently, well I did, I won!

This is what I won from Bibbitybob's Giveaway ~ aren't there some lovely bits in there? I have already got the vintage doilies out in the house and the kids snaffled the little chocolates ~ just as well really I have eaten far too much naughty stuff this week. Thanks again honey this was a welcome suprise and made my week.

Beautiful little handmade heart:

CK covered photo frame and little heart:

An assortment if beautiful pre-loved cloths, some of these have already found homes throughout my house:

Didn't I do well it brightened up a dreary week! Thanks again honey x

Now on a different note, I have been cooking lots more since joining slimming world. I know I have to cook most days but spag bol from a jar is not really cooking is it?
I am not a cook as such, I make what I have to and find it a chore, but I have enjoyed making some new Slimming World Recipes recently, here is one I made yesterday:

Slimming World Raspberry Roulade
Ingredients: 4 eggs, few drops if vanilla essence ( I used lemon essence), 4 tbsp sweetner, 1 tub quark (virtually fat free soft cheese), and strawberries or raspberries.

Directions: Seperate the egg whites and whisk until stiff peaks form.

In seperate bowl mix egg yolks, 1/2 tub of Quark, 1/2 the sweetner and Lemon/Vanilla Essence. Give it a good mix.
Gently fold into the egg whites.
Pour the mixture in a lined (important as it will stick) and well oiled (with frylight) tray and bake for 10-15 mins at gas 5 or 190 centigrade.

It comes out like this, it was a strange texture a bit like a sweet omlette and very delicate:

Next you mix the remainder of the quark, sweetner and fruit together and spread it across the cake then roll it into a swiss roll and dust with sweetner. Stick it in the fridge for an hour and you get this:
And it was delicious, I was not expecting it to be; but it was. I ate the lot myself, everyone turned their noses up at it and I didn't encourage them too hard to share it. I hasten to add I did not eat it all in one sitting.
This will only make sense if you follow slimming world or if you have done, but this entire roulade is FREE on all plans. There is a version which is 1/2 syn for the whole thing but that is for 1 tsp baking powder which I leave out and it makes no difference as far as I can tell.
