Magazine Winner, and an Amendment...

Thanks for the welcome back and for all the entries for the magazine!

I popped you all on a list and copped out with the random number generator and the winner is:

Congratulations, if you could email me your address (kandipandi{at}tiscali{dot}co{dot}uk) I'll post out this week with a few little bits added in.

I have been spending even more time at the beach this weekend, I'm just scared summer will be gone in a flash and as my youngest boys are now 12 there will not be many more summers that they will want to spend on the beach; we need to make the most of it!

I did manage a bit of crochet on the beach, lots of people come to talk to me when I'm knitting/sewing/making outdoors it's always a good conversation starter.

Been in the kitchen this weekend too making more melts and candles, these are quite popular in my little shop, my home smells of lemon meringue pie and bubblegum, yum!

Ooh before I forget, I made a little mistake in my little hexie tutorial and one of the measurements is wrong!  Poor Judith follwing my instructions to the letter got confuddled and thought it was her brain not getting it when infact it was my dodgy measurement. The change is as follows:

Next make a cushion back. You will need;

· Two large rectangles of cotton 18” x 17”

Should read

· Two large rectangles of cotton 9” x 17”

Sincere apologies for any confusion.

Right, must finish up my magic ball swaps, almost there.  I posted my Fabric Swap to Australia today, hope it gets there soon Kerri!

Little Fabric Scraps

Afternoon all.  I'm starting to get a little excited about the upcoming fabric swap ~ many thanks to you who have already entered together we will make little packages of happiness to send to each other's doors.
If you are still thinking of entering you have still got time, I'll leave it open until Wednesday and I'll pair us all up then, just sign up here

My recent makes have been a bit sporadic.  The hexie kits I popped in my Folksy shop have been going well,  there are lots of creative ladies out there who want to get into, or back into making little hexies.

I've been making more hexies for my own stash too, I have a 'mainly pinks' idea for a cushion for my girly bedroom ~ don't tell the hubby!  I love being surrounded by little fabric scraps.

I finally got a new blade for my rotary cutter so I was trimming and cutting like mad on Saturday, so much so that my wrist is hurting like mad today.

I've made some larger squares 10cm x 10cm these will fit the larger hexies I have but I will more than likely make them into a patchwork cushion.

I've been making more candles and melts.  I had my first major fail with a batch of tea lights this week, I added too much scent and they were just not right.  They smell amazing but burn up really fast, I'll have to keep these ones for myself ;0)

I did manage not to botch up the Bubblegum Melts I made, so they made it into my shop.

On a totally different tack, I make myself a 'Sewing Necklace' ~ I've had these charms for ages and thought I would make use of them, quite sweet and 'Sew' me.
Told you my makes were sporadic...

In other news, I've got lots of 'Family Issues' going on at the minute, so I'm a little pre-occupied.
My blogging has been much less frequent as has my commenting.
To be fair the commenting is not easy with blogger playing up at the minute but I mainly use my iPhone to read all of your blogs and leaving comments is not always possible on there, depending on Blogger's mood.  I do read each and every post though and I will be back to commenting and posting more often as soon as things settle down.

Love you all lots, and get your thinking caps ready for the swap x

p.s. Can't let today go by without sending a 'Happy Fathers Day' to all the wonderful Fathers out there, especially my wonderful husband, the best Dad and Step Dad any kid could wish for xXx

New Ventures and Revamps

Well ladies sorry I've been AWOL, but I have been working through my list of things to do.
Besides the things I planned there have been unplanned things too like a broken oven and dishwasher on the same day! And an impromptu trip into work!!

Anyhoo, I have been able to tick some stuff off my list, I did finish my coffee table re-vamp,

Before, nasty orange pine:

and after, shabby cream legs with natural waxed top.

Poor hubby stood looking horrified after I spent 5 hours sanding and waxing and painting to get the sander out again and take bits back off!

I am really pleased with it and it's bigger than my last coffee table which gives me loads of room to spread my crafting crap out all over it!  I did toy with the idea of Farrow & Ball Dimity, but all my other woodwork is Crown Period Eggshell Parsonage Cream, so I went with that.

I also wanted to try making wax melts.  Lovely Laalaa put me onto the idea and I love them, they smell divine, this little pile are lemon meringue pie!

Another thing I managed to tick off my list was to open my Folksy shop.  That was a greater task than I had anticipated.  Digging through my stash, photos, descriptions etc. it took many, many hours but I have listed a lot of my stuff.  I was amazed at what I found.  As I have made things through the year I have boxed them away for gifts and such and found that there was still a plethora of things I have made, hence Folksy.  I still have lots more to add and will continue to fill it up.

Pop over and let me know what you think.

Anyhoo I must dash and dust off my best hat for the wedding tomorrow!

I wonder what her frock will be like?
