Sewing for Pleasure and Friends

I have not been completely idle these last couple of months; I have been busy sewing up a few samples for my good friend Lynda (Laa Laa Land) as she is exhibiting at the NEC in Birmingham at the Crafts for Christmas on 7th to the 10th November 2013 (this week).

I got a bit carried away and made Lynda a quilted hanger with her logo inspired by her business card.

Earlier this year I made some mini crochet bunting for the stall.

Can you tell I wish I was going too, this way a little bit of me will be there?

I have been working on some of these for a while now but I couldn't share these until now as Lynda has only recently added them to her online shop.  Some in progress shots.

If you are planning to visit the Exhibition do pop over to see her and say hi, she really is a lovely lady, and if you can’t make it you can snaffle up kits and patterns from her online shop here, there are new patterns being added all the time, including these beauties.

How delightful.

Felty Bits and Peg Bag

After a long day at work I have spent a while sorting out my fabric bits and bobs drawer. I have been neglecting my sewing duties and have been absorbed/obsessed with beading.
Amongst my stash I came across some felty bits I was making a couple of weeks ago and thought I could incorporate them into something I had in mind.

Whilst visiting my mam at the weekend I noticed her peg bag was very shabby, and it lives in the main hallway so it is always on show. I decided to make mam a new peg bag this week and thought I would add a little felty cup cake.

By the time I had sorted out my bits I don't have time to complete it tonight but made a start, got the worst bit out of the way - rikrak!! ~ I hate the stuff, but it looks so effective.

My felty flowers (will have to come up with a reason to use these soon).....

I made these little cupcakes and planned to add them to some makeup bags, but one made it's way onto mam's peg bag.

I will finish mam's peg bag tomorrow hopefully, off to watch a film and eat something for now.

Sewing, beads and bits and bobs..

As mentioned yesterday, here are a few bits and bobs I have been making recently. I don't really have a plan for any of it, I simply enjoy making it. Some of it has already been given away as gifts to friends and family I guess at the end of the year when I have a stash of stuff I will have to do a craft fair or sell online.

Most of my beads and fabrics were previously something else, or were bargains. I am unable to pay full price for anything and I am always on the lookout for bargains. Now and again however, something comes along that I just have to have at any price, but I think my general thriftyness makes up for it somewhere along the way (is there such a thing as thrifty karma?)
