A Grand Day Out....

Last Thursday was a great day all round, spent with my two lovely ladies and fellow bloggers Lynda and Beki.

We met up and spent the say shopping, chatting and laughing at the Birmingham NEC at the Creative Crafts for Christmas. 

None of us took photo's we we just too busy having fun, terrible bloggers I know.

We did spend lots of money and gather a few supplies which I am itching to get stuck into:

These are going to be new cushions for my bed, when I get round to making them up.

In the meantime I'm still busy with Christmas makes and have my Christmas Decoration Swap all packed up and ready to go to the lovely Sue.

Cath Kidston Home Cushion

Totally off the thread of Christmas today, I was watching Kirsties Homemade Home that I had recorded and an idea burrowed in .

I have been making home bits, I have been pottering with some CK Cotton Duck in one of my fave prints of hers Spray Flowers. I decided to make another cushion like the one I made a while back from recycled denim.

I took my trusty scissors to my friend's boyfriends favourite jeans, that sounds awful but they were past their best and he did 'donate' them to me via my lovely friend (Thanks Ryan!) :)

Sliced up jeans give quite a narrow strip of denim so I added my Cotton Duck to the top and bottom, together with some of my favourite Fenwick's check remnant and came up with this:

I cut and bondawebbed (I know that's not even a word!!) the letters then appliqued them with a little zig zag stitch to the front. I overlapped the flowers onto the back to give it a little bit of niceness. This is a full size cushion so will fit most standard inserts.

I added the flowery fabric to the zip ends to perk it up a bit!

I gave my new labels a little run out too.

I have taken a little shine to this and it might end up in my lounge rather than in my gift pile, what do you think?

♥ ~ The Kindness of Strangers ~ ♥

Well last week I received a beautiful parcel from a virtual friend – the lovely Amanda of Amanda Makes (Amanda has just reached 30 followers and is having a giveaway too so why not pop over and have a look over at her lovely blog?).

This gift was just such a treasure; it was too lovely not to share so here you go:

I can't choose something that I could say was a favourite, I loved all of it!

The union jack brooch has made its way straight onto my denim jacket and all of the other bits have been shared out into their new homes amongst my buttons, ribbons and cotton boxes, I can't wait to use them and will be sure to show whatever they turn into here soon. I have already used up some of that beautiful pink embroidery thread on a little make I did yesterday, I will post about that tomorrow.
