More Felty Makes and Gifts

Well, it has to be said I'm still addicted to making my felty rings, they are just too cute, here are my latest batch...

I do get addicted to something then do it to death and move on; enough rings already!

I had a visit from my lovely friend Nic at the weekend and received some fabulous handmade items, they say great minds think alike ~ she made me a book thong! It's fabulous and I love it lots.

Another beautiful gift was these earrings, hand twisted and hammered, they are very me (can't tell you how happy I am with these)!

I keep telling Nic to open a shop she really is very talented at jewellery making, I own the most beautiful stuff she has made me, at present she only makes for family and friends (lucky me!)
I was also the recipient of these stunning notecards from Paperchase ~ my two favourite things ~ papercuts and Russian Dolls!

Thanks again xxx

Another wonderful parcel arrived this week from the lovely Beki over at BekiMaries ~ we did an additional fabric swap and wow, was I amazed at what arrived.  I have to add that my backup camera died this day and I didn't get any close up's but I was thrilled and delighted with the contents!
There are a few fabrics in here I would trade one of my kids for (Beki take your pick 4 boys aged 11-16, let me know which one to send lol)

Can you see the Russian Doll pin cushion ~ wowzer she's my absolute favourite thing at the minute.
Thanks again lovely xx

I've got so many new fabric options now that I'm itching to start a new project, but I've got so much to finish already ~ in the words of Natalie Imbruglia 'I'm Torn'!

Right I'm off to make a dent in my WIP, new fabric get thee behind me; although I've just received a couple of cute crochet patterns from Pink Poppy that I might have to squeeze in...

Well ladies how about spreading a little happiness? There is quite a bit of gloom about in blogland (and indeed real life land) at the moment, including from me and to give us a little something to look forward to do you fancy a little fabric swap?
  ~ ♥ ~

(feel free to grab the button and spread the word)

I know there are a few swaps on the go at the moment, but I wanted to keep this one quite simple.

I will pair you all up and we contact each other to get an idea of likes/dislikes, wants/hates and then we have a bit of fun putting it together and then sit back and wait to receive loveliness in the post.

~ ♥ ~

Swap could include:

• 4 or 5 fat quarters ~ new or pre-loved fabrics

• A small packet of scraps/oddments ~ fabric or felt or odd buttons or ribbon etc ~ we have all got them

• A little something handmade by you ~ could be sewn, knitted, beaded, papercraft anything really

• That’s it! Simple?

~ ♥ ~

It’s supposed to be a bit of fun so don’t stress if you can’t partake, and please only sign up if you can join in.

If you are interested please leave a comment below.
I know I have blog readers that don’t have blogs, (yes I’m talking about you Nicola and Judith) if you don’t have a blog you can still join in the fun please leave a comment here and leave a valid email address.

I’ll pair you all up next week (Wednesday 22nd) then we can get cracking. I won’t set a strict deadline for posting stuff out you can decide that between yourselves, we are all big girls now ~ especially so in my case ;0)

nb. Inspiration for this swap came from Judith who taunts me daily with beautiful fabrics to buy and has my poor credit card cowering in fear ~ thanks ;0)

Tina's Fabric Swap

The lovely Tina organised a fabric swap recently, the idea started on Money Saving Expert so the swap was to have a money saving theme. I am not sure I did too well with that considering I usually use recycled materials, but I only went and bought the magazine, I had everything else already.
I was paired up with Cate who does not have a blog but she does have a flikr account so I scoured that for ideas. I tried to choose fabric I thought she might like (one of the fabrics I sent started life as a vintage bed sheet ~ very MSE). This is what I sent:

I made a little needle case from an antique purple fabric using the tutorial in the Sew Hip Magazine (not the one I used this is a new one!), Cate makes lots of little hexies so I thought this might be quite apt for her. The tutorial was created by this lovely lady if you have not already seen it pop over she has made some beautiful things. I also made a button bag for Cate from a William Morris style fabric, and added lots of new and vintage buttons inside it.

Hope you liked it Cate x

Look what I received, naughty Cate went mad and sent loads of beautiful bits!

Look at my new stash, so much fab stuff I don't know where to start...

beautiful vintage fabrics...

The sweetest little hexie case for my hexie tin...

Cotton, bows, bells, buttons, badges brooches, trims and birdies... my son was very smitten with the striped birdie so I let him run off with it, he said thanks!

Incredible little handmade envelopes full of little bits of fabric and hexies ready to go!

Amazing, I am so pleased thank you so much Cate.

Swaps, and Hospitals...

Well, what an emotional weekend so far! My lovely Mum was admitted to hopsital this morning for an operation to replace her knee. I have barely slept for thinking about her and could not settle at all today until I could get to her bedside. It is such a relief that it is over but the worst is yet to come pain wise, bless her. This morning, to occupy myself I have had the sewing machine out and altered my CK bag that I made from the CK Sew Book, I will blog about that soon (photos are in camera, camera in car, car in garage - etc.).

Anyhoo, on a lighter note, I took part in Crafty Helen @ Homes Fabric swap, my first ever blog swap and it was quite exciting (well, in my little world it was). I was allocated Vanilla from Sew.Vanilla as my swap partner. Well I got in touch with her and we had a little email chat bout the kind of things we like and hate – she loves red and hates shabby chic, flowery, lacy type stuff. I am the polar opposite, I love vintage, lacy flowery stuff – my remit was anything you think your granny would love – send that!

I found it quite daunting trying to choose bits that someone I don’t know would like, but I guess that is part of the charm of a swap.

Now that she has her parcel and I have mine I can show you the picture this is what I sent:

And, this is what I received in return:

Isn’t it great! Just up my street. Many thanks Anilla x

And of course many thanks to Helen for organising this swap.
