My name is Kandi and I am an addict...

I am still in the grip of cushion addiction. There must be some form of treatment for this, but until I find it I will no doubt continue to churn them out.
This little treasure started a few weeks ago when I made my granny squares cushion, I was engrossed in the TV and forgot to stop, so I stopped trying to stop and got started!

And here we go, another bloody cushion! Poor hubby has just started rolling his eyes at me now on the completion of yet another cushion.

Anyhoo, using what was left of the jumper from the last cushion I made another back for this one, et voila:

I am also part way through another crochet cushion this time in Sublime Baby Cashmere wool, which is just a pure pleasure to work with it's as soft as an angels bum :) It's almost there just not quite; here is a sneaky peak...

On another totally unrelated subject I have had a bit of luck with the bargains these last couple of weeks and have scored myself a cake stand for £1 ~ I have been after one for ages, it's in it's original box I imagine it was a wedding present to some couple many moons ago. It has never been used all the bits are still there, don't you just love the packet the handle comes in?

The same day I found this I scored these three beautiful mirrors from the local junk shop. I think I befuddled the man in the shop as he was after £25 for the pink one and I got all of them for £15! I was delighted to pay £5 each as I fell in love with them, I thrust the cash at him and ran from the shop incase he changed his mind.

This one came with a 5 year guarantee (which expired 10 years before I was born)!

And this one is my favourite, I can now see myself in Rose Tint, and I look so much better!

My poor husband is exasperated with me, he wondered how many mirrors one house needs? This last one has some minor blemishes where the silver is peeling off the back, which I think adds to the charachter of it.
Husband wanted to know why I bought a mirror with pixel loss ~he's such a geek!

More Shopping than Making

Well, this is neither sewing or jewellery related but just wanted to post about some bits I bought this weekend that made me happy!

I am not one for spending money on myself, almost everything I wear is from the high street (cheap end :) ) or charity shops, there are very few things I spend much money on but one of them is makeup! I fell in love with Estee Lauder many moons ago when I was young with a disposable income; fast forward two marriages and four kids and a few wrinkles and I still have to have it.
My complexion is a bit of a mess at the minute, not sure why, I am eating well and drink loads of water, take vitamins and still my skin is spotty - like a teenage skin. I am putting it down to hormones and hoping it will pass. So on Saturday I indulged myself and bought some new foundation to hopefully cover the worst of my blemishes:

Tried it out straight away and it’s worth every penny! Whilst in Boots buying makeup, I spotted these rings! I never usually buy jewellery as I tend to see something I like and make it myself, but I couldn't make these so I bought them, they were all 1/2 price and ranged from £2.50 - £3.
Following Boots I headed to the Yorkshire Trading Co and had a good look through their fabric section and came away with handfuls of ribbson and lace and these Gutermanns cottons in little tins that I just needed to have (only £4 each) ~ aren't they lovely?:

So fast forward to today and I have been to the local car boot sale, I love a good rummage. This time we went without kids which was so much easier and my stash included:
Bed sheet to cut up and make stuff with - think this may be a nice lining fabric or some shabby makeup bags and tote bags - £1.00.

Russian Dolls, I just love these - £1.00.

Fab battered old letter rack, the wood is sound so it will shabby up nice - £1.50.

Lovely old mirror - looks like someone else has attempted a bit of shabbying - £2.50.
Good day's bargains all in all. Now it is time to reign in the spending and get making again.
