I love blogging and reading blogs and I get loads of lovely ideas from here but I have a love affair with books, something tangible I can touch and carry about the house and read whenever I fancy, you just cant do that with a link on the laptop!
I have been after these books for a while and found them both in my little local library recently. I swiftly borrowed them and have been pawing through them over and over.

This first one The Perfect Handmade Bag by Claire Youngs is stuffed full of lovely ideas, I had to restrict myself as to how many photos I took, I wanted to show you them all!
Owls again...
Isn't this fabric just beautiful?
I added a little piece of paper to each page that I was interested in and in the end found that I wanted them all. There is nothing for it, I will definitely be buying this one.
The next one is Sew Many Bags Sew Little Time by Sally Southern (a local girl).
Again there are lots of lovely bags in here:
This is a lovely bag and really versatile.
I really like this one I have a thing for wool and tweed fabrics, I would love to attempt this one.
I am glad I got the chance to paw through these before buying them as sometimes you can be a bit let down, but I have both of these on my wishlist now, I just hope Santa thinks I have been a good girl this year!
Oh talking of Christmas (sorry I know it's August!!) I must put my mind to some Christmas makes I am amazed at how many people are already making bits and bobs, metioning no names (*coughs* Lynda & Hazel *coughs*) and I am feeling left behind, anyone seen any good Christmas inspiration fabric makes recently?

Kandi those books look really rather yummy!!
ReplyDeleteI think I'll be putting them on my wish list too.
Em xxx
I have a book obsession too. I just bought another 3 from Amazon yesterday and cant wait for them to arrive!!
ReplyDeleteI confess to have started to make pressies towards the 'C' word. You have to start early if you want to make things - thats my excuse.
ReplyDeleteI have the first book. I had to buy it for myself, as despite lots of hints nothing has ever been purchased off my Amazon wish list!xx
ReplyDeletelol! how many pages did you mark - you made me laugh to think how busy you will be xxx
ReplyDeleteOh dear, I've been named and shamed (I still did a little eek when I read my name tho :P). I feel so dirty but I have just come here from blogging yet again about Christmas. The postman should be delivering my some more dies for my big shot so hopefully I will be able to lay off the Christmas makes til it is actually near Christmas! I secretly can't wait to see what you make for Christmas, it'll be our first Christmas blogging!
ReplyDeleteWow, talk about digging your own grave, ^ how many times did I say the word 'Christmas'! x
They look great books..and thanks for sharing them!
ReplyDeleteIve not even thought abour xmas yet...saying that ive not even bought the kids they uniforms for back to school yet...i soo need to pull my finger out..lol
Hope you've had a lovely weekend hugs clare x
weekend crafter x
WOW! thanks for sharing! I'm always on the lookout for bag-making books but haven't seen these yet. I have the new Amy Butler ordered and the Lisa Lam book pre-ordered....I definitely see myself adding these to the list.
ReplyDeleteI understand your feelings towards book: while I think owning an Amazon Kindle or a B&N Nook reader would be incredibly efficient, there is something about holding a book, being able to mark pages and flip freely that keeps me from buying one.
I feel the same way about books. I always have some craft books lying around. When I'm not busy sewing, I'll be going thru' pictures of crafts or bags.
ReplyDeleteLove the books...I am going to have to keep an eye out at my library for those they look great. Can't wait to see if you make any of them ;-)
ReplyDeletehahaha,YOU are going to be a busy girl!
ReplyDeleteAh the owl one is so cute! I know, I've been thinking about Christmas recently too (especially as the weather is already like October most days!); I'm making my cards and some little felt tree decorations, and I want to sew something too but all I can think of is Christmassy bunting and placemats :S
ReplyDeleteGreat books! I too am obsessed with textile books, I recently found an enormous William Morris book in the CS for £5! Theres nothing like a good book and being able to turn the corners of a page!
ReplyDeleteTamzin X
Those books look amazing! I love making bags. I think a trip to the library is in the offing. Thansk for the inspiration! xxx
