Little Hexies

I have been drooling over quilting and thought I might start small.
I have had my eye on a little bag from the Cath Kidston Sew book made up with lots of hexies.


The Hexies in this bag are quite large but I thought I would prefer to make the smaller 1” hexies as you can use smaller scraps of fabric. These are very addictive and rather calming to make and as they are very portable I can sew anywhere!

This is my little pile so far, I was asked the other day by my husband if I am in the process of making a girlie football?!? :

I carry them about in my little tin, this was full of biscuits from Past Times many moons ago!

I am quite naughty and have been eyeing up clothes in the wardrobe to cut up for hexies, I should really wait until they are ready to be re-cycled!

    You must find that so satisfying! I'm just looking at the pic of the pile of hexies and finding myself craving them. What lovely little shapes they are.

    That bag looks fab - looking forward to seeing the finished result! I've got lots of fabric cut for hexies, just need to find the motivation to get them made up.

    Haha--I thought football? And then I realized you meant what I know as a soccerball :)
    I've been eyeing hexagons for a bit--I love the way they look all lined up but I don't know if i'll have the patience to sew them all together.

    You must have the patience of a saint! I don't think I could cut them all up, let alone place them all neatly in a little tin. They look fab - can't wait to see the little bag, L xx

    I remember my Grandma making a double bed cover out of those, mind you she had the patience of a saint.
    So neat and pretty and loving the tin they're in, too.

    Hi Kandi, Thanks for your lovely comment on my blog. Your choice of fabrics for your little hexies is fab, cant wait to see them all stitched up. I started a hex quilt about 15 years ago, its folded in tissue unfinished...you inspire me to dig it out!
